There was some question about whether or not Georgia quarterback Carson Beck would be playing in the Orange Bowl. Now, he’s made it clear that he will be playing in the game, per DawgsHQ.

Beck explained this while speaking to media members in Atlanta during a fan event at an Academy Sports and Outdoors.

“Yeah, I’m playing in the game,” Carson Beck said, according to the AJC. “I mean, I think people know that, unless they don’t. But, yes, officially, I am playing in the game.”

Carson Beck is confident in his decision to play in the Orange Bowl. However, he also added that he hasn’t made a decision about his future at Georgia beyond that game heading into the 2024 season.

Beck also referred to that decision as “the hardest decision of [his] entire life.”

2023 was Carson Beck’s first as the starting quarterback at Georgia, taking over from Stetson Bennett who won back-to-back national championships as the starting quarterback. Beck led the Bulldogs to an unbeaten regular season, but a loss in the SEC Championship Game to Alabama cost Georgia a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Instead, Georgia is set to play Florida State in the Orange Bowl. It’s a game that both sides are frustrated to be in, feeling that they both deserve to be in the College Football Playoff.

This season was Carson Beck’s fourth with the Georgia program. However, he still has eligibility, largely due to the pandemic that didn’t cost any players a year of eligibility in 2020.

Carson Beck shares what he learned about himself in SEC Championship loss

After the disappointing loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, Carson Beck shared what he learned about himself.

“I mean, obviously to always have the mentality to never give up. It’s never over. I truly believe that every guy on that sideline through every second of that game never gave up. Obviously I’m super proud of this team. It shows how resilient we are. Obviously it didn’t finish the way that we wanted it to, but to see the guys fight and care and love each other on the field, truly fight for one another, is special,” Beck said.

“I mean, it goes to say how special this program is and how Coach Smart has built this program. I mean, we just kept going out there and fighting and kept going,” Beck said. “Obviously it didn’t go our way at times. But just never give up.”
