Georgia safety Jake Pope caught celebrating with Ole Miss fans on field
A ton of emotions came to light in Oxford when Ole Miss defeated Georgia in Week 11, but a surprising moment was captured on camera featuring Bulldogs defender Jake Pope.
The safety was seemingly caught in a celebratory mood after Georgia’s loss, smiling and jumping up and down with what looks to be the family, or at least a group of supporters, of Rebels offensive lineman Reece McIntyre. Check out the video below.
Pope and McIntyre are from the same hometown of Buford, Georgia, where they both played high school football for the Buford Wolves. It makes sense why Pope would be happy to see the McIntyre clan, but that doesn’t mean Bulldogs fans are going to be excited at seeing one of their defenders so joyous following a demoralizing loss.
Pope originally committed to Alabama, before transferring to Georgia for the 2024 campaign. He’s yet to truly make an impact in Athens, but he has plenty of time to do so, waiting in the wings for his shot to come to fruition.
One thing is for sure, he likely won’t be seen celebrating with another team’s fans in the future — even if it’s a group he knows from his adolescence. Regardless, Jake Pope will be looking for and ready when the opportunity to get on the field consistently arises at Georgia.
