Georgia wide receiver RaRa Thomas enters NCAA transfer portal
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Georgia wide receiver RaRa Thomas has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Thomas is going through the transfer process for the second time, beginning his career with Mississippi State. Two years were spent in Athens but only one season was played on the field.
Early in the process, Thomas is viewed as one of the highest-rated players available. The On3 Transfer Portal Industry Rankings have him as the No. 11 overall player and No. 7 wide receiver. Talent will not be an issue when teams are looking at Thomas but off-field issues will be a topic of conversation.
Head coach Kirby Smart released Thomas from the team before the 2024 season even began. Thomas was arrested on two misdemeanor battery charges and one felony cruelty to children charge. As of Nov. 11, he was indicted on those charges and was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
“On Rara, had a chance to sit down and meet with him face-to-face Tuesday, which I think was really important and let him know that he can no longer be a part of the football team,” Smart said in August. “He understands that and we wish him nothing but the best moving forward.”

Prior to his time with the Georgia Bulldogs, Thomas spent two seasons with Mississippi State.
Thomas played high school football at Eufaula (AL) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 793 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
In 2023, Thomas’ first with Georgia, he caught 23 passes for 383 yards and a touchdown. That was considered a bit of an up-and-down season for Thomas and he was expected to grow into a major factor in the Bulldogs offense before his arrest.
In January 2023, shortly after Rara Thomas transferred to Georgia, he was charged in a separate incident for false imprisonment and domestic battery. The false imprisonment charge was later dismissed.
