Condon comes through with arguably the biggest bat of anyone in the nation, sporting a comfortable lead in the home run race this season. He has knocked out a BBCOR-era record 36 blasts, also a Georgia record. At one point this season, Condon hit homers in eight consecutive games, just one shy of the NCAA record.
Additionally, Condon has hit .445 on the season with the 36 home runs, 77 RBI, and 20 doubles. He has also drawn a whopping 55 walks, getting on base with regularity.
From a team perspective, Georgia made the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Super Regionals for the first time since 2008. NC State was the opponent but the Bulldogs were knocked out in the deciding Game 3, ending the dream of making the College World Series.
Head coach Wes Johnson took over a program wanting to compete and the goal was certainly accomplished in 2024. Condon certainly played a huge role, both during the regular season and postseason.

Charlie Condon winning Golden Spikes Award showcases SEC dominance
The SEC has been a staple in the Golden Spikes Award in recent seasons. Condon is the conference’s third winner in the past four seasons. LSU‘s Dylan Crews took home the honors in 2023 while Kevin Kopps of Arkansas was the last pitcher to win back in 2021.
Just the latest example of the SEC displaying why they are considered the top conference in all of college baseball.
“It’s a power conference,” Eric Campbell of USA Baseball said during the award show on ESPN. “Year in, year out, it’s great baseball. It’s been that way for years and years and years… The game is changing and they’re changing with it, remaining the top league in the country.”
