While the Georgia Bulldogs roster is certainly oozing with talent all over the place, they’ve lost two massive pieces of their offense to serious injuries this season. First, it was star running back Branson Robinson. And recently, it was all-world tight end Brock Bowers, who figures to be one of the top tight ends selected in the NFL Draft, whenever he decides to turn pro.

On Sunday evening’s edition of the Andy Staples show, Jake Rowe of DawgsHQ jumped on to talk about Carson Beck and how he’s played without his stud tight end.

Andy Staples said that Beck has shown us early he didn’t need Bowers.

“Carson Beck didn’t need Brock Bowers as a security blanket. He could spread it around to a bunch of different receivers and the offense could move,” Staples said.

Carson Beck has looked impressive without Brock Bowers

Rowe agrees.

“Yeah, for sure. And they really even without Bowers, attacked the middle of the field incredibly effectively. Beck has had this thing this year where he still misses some of those deep shots. But that 10-25 in the middle of the field, he’s just lethal. And that where he’s been at his best,” Jake Rowe noted.

Rowe was very impressed with his performance on Saturday.

“And I thought he did an incredible job without him. Three plays, 40 yards or more for that offense. It’s exactly what they needed with Bowers was out,” the senior editor of DawgsHQ said.

On Saturday against the Florida Gators, Carson Beck certainly didn’t disappoint, connecting on 19 of 28 attempts for 315 passing yards, while tossing in two touchdowns and no interceptions. Even with the injuries, Beck has managed to carry the Georgia offense all season long, connecting on 73% of his passes for 2,462 passing yards, while tossing in 14 touchdown passes with four interceptions.

It’s been his first season as the starting quarterback at Georgia and he’s been impressive in every way. Beck also carved up Kentucky to the tune of 389 passing yards and four touchdowns, while tossing in one interception.

As a high school prospect coming out of Mandarin High School (Jacksonville, Florida), Beck was rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 16 quarterback prospect in America, according to the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2020 cycle. He earned a number of accolades, including 2018 Florida Offensive Player of the Year by USA Today. Beck was also named to the Elite 11 finals in 2019.
