Georgia has targeted a number of coveted prospects in its own state for the 2025 cycle, with few more important than elite defensive linemen Isaiah Gibson and Elijah Griffin.

Griffin has been on the radar of schools across the country for more than a year, but Gibson has exploded onto the scene over the past few months. In the most recent On300 rankings, he jumped all the way to No. 24 nationally and is now ranked as a top-25 recruit by multiple services.

The in-state Bulldogs have had their eyes on him for some time, and all signs point toward UGA being a major contender in the race to land him. The most recent is a pair of expert predictions from DawgsHQ.com insiders Jake Reuse and Jake Rower on Tuesday.

“You keep hearing names like Oklahoma and Oregon associated with this recruitment, and he was especially talkative regarding the Sooners during the Under Armour camp stop in Carrollton. Still, it was hard to ignore the Georgia windbreaker and slides he was sporting while talking about all of his other options,” Reuse wrote in his making his prediction.

… I’m normally not one to lean into the ‘what are they wearing’ measurement, but that one struck me. Gibson is deeply familiar with the Georgia staff, has been able to make the trip to Athens with some frequency early on in his recruitment, and he fills a major need for the Dawgs as a potential EDGE or five-technique depending on how he fills out.”

Bulldogs making a major impression on Gibson

Just two hours outside of Athens, Gibson has had the chance to visit UGA multiple times and see the culture built by Kirby Smart and Co. The NFL development and success on the field surely doesn’t hurt either.

“I would say it’s the way the players, I’ve been around them and one of the guys from my school went there, and the way everything has to be perfect there. I feel like it should be like that everywhere. Everything has to be perfect,” he said. “The school is just amazing to me. It’s an SEC school, and I feel like that’s just the junior league of going to the NFL. I love everything about the coaching staff for real.”

That love is certainly felt in the bond he’s formed with Georgia outside linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe.

“He has high energy, and he has great love for his family,” Gibson said. “He just took a vacation down to Miami with his wife, so it’s always good energy, and we talk about things that aren’t just football. It’s just life in general. It’s always good when we talk. I actually talked to him before (Under Armour Camp). He told me, ‘Show up and show out.’”

In addition to UGA, Clemson, Oregon and Oklahoma are among those expected to receive official visits this summer from Gibson before he makes a decision.
