Jabri Abdur-Rahim shares Georgia's biggest issue in Vanderbilt loss
Georgia mounted a furious comeback attempt down the stretch at home against Vanderbilt but ultimately came up short in an 85-82 loss. Georgia’s biggest issue was that it simply couldn’t get stops when it needed them.
The Bulldogs trailed by 12 points with about six minutes to play in the game and managed to whittle the Commodores’ lead all the way down to one point.
It couldn’t get any further, despite a flurry of makes by both teams down the stretch.
“I feel like offensively is never the problem, we just couldn’t get anything done on the defensive end,” guard Jabri Abdur-Rahim said after the game. “We made a bunch of big shots, but every time we made a big shot they made a bigger one to come back right at us.”
Eventually Georgia was forced to foul to try to extend the game inside the final minute.
The Bulldogs made it a competitive contest but couldn’t get the help they needed via some Commodores misses. Georgia’s biggest issue was that it couldn’t force offensive mistakes. Vanderbilt finished 8-for-8 at the charity stripe in the final 1:04 of the game.

“They probably like led the whole game and we could just never get it going defensively,” Abdur-Rahim said. “Offensively we felt fine, nobody was focused on offense. We were trying to get stops the whole time. We knew offense was going to take care of itself, and that’s really what it came down to. We just couldn’t get enough stops.”
