Javon Bullard excited to match up with former teammate Jermaine Burton
Georgia Bulldogs defensive back Javon Bullard is excited for the opportunity to play in the SEC Championship Game. In particular, he’s excited to have the opportunity to match up with a former teammate, Jermaine Burton.
Burton started his career as a wide receiver for the Bulldogs before transferring to Alabama ahead of the 2022 season. At the time, it was a move that raised a number of eyebrows.
“I’m excited, man,” Javon Bullard said. “I’m pretty sure Jermaine’s excited too. I think it’s gonna be a great matchup. I can’t wait to see him play.”
Javon Bullard and Jermain Burton have competed with one another before. However, that was in practice. The SEC Championship is something else entirely and the two haven’t had a chance to meet on the field until now.
There’s a lot more than the SEC Championship on the line when Georgia and Alabama meet. With a win, Georgia will be moving onto the College Football Playoff. However, if Alabama pulls off the upset, there could be some amount of chaos. The field for the College Football Playoff and at that point, neither Georgia nor Alabama would be guaranteed a spot in the Playoff.

The experts do expect this to be a good game. Georgia comes into the game as a 5.5-point favorite. This is the first time since the 2021 SEC Championship Game that the Crimson Tide aren’t the favorite. Of course, that 2021 SEC Championship Game was also the last time the Georgia program has lost a football game.
Javon Bullard proud to see Fran Brown land Syracuse job
Georgia defensive backs coach Fran Brown landed the head coaching job at Syracuse to replace Dino Babers. It’s not an easy job, but it is a head coaching job and a huge opportunity for Brown. As Javon Bullard explained, he’s proud of Fran Brown.
“Getting a tremendous coach, but more so a tremendous person. I mean Coach Fran, like I said, he’s a great coach but I feel like what makes Coach Fran so special is his relationship outside of football. We connect on a personal level, he’s been there with me through spiritual advice, emotional advice, when I need to talk about my family or I’m missing home he’s always there,” Bullard said.
“Coach Fran is one of the people I can count on outside of football. My car breaks down, I know I can call Coach Fran. That’s the person he is to the core, that’s what you’re getting, that’s what Syracuse is getting, and we’re so proud of him man. Hat goes off to him we’re tremendously proud of him.”
