On3’s JD PicKell is a strong believer that the Georgia Bulldogs will be more than fine under Carson Beck in 2023.

While some believe the departure of Stetson Bennett will lead to a gigantic shift for the Bulldogs, PicKell thinks that Beck’s talent will propel Georgia to the level they’ve been known to play at over the last couple of seasons.

“Here’s the reason why I have so much confidence in Carson Beck translating right away as a Year 1 starter,” started PicKell. “Stetson Bennett is the GOAT when it comes to Georgia football. Now don’t take my word for it, Kirby Smart said that postgame, right after the national championship. Said he’s got GOAT status in Athens. Stetson Bennett. Stetson Bennett, incredible talent. Thrived in this system. Different offensive coordinator but same system. He thrived in it. I’m look at Carson Beck, and no disrespect to Stetson Bennett, but God just gave more natural ability to Carson Beck than he did to Stetson Bennett.

“Stetson Bennett is probably a better overall, you would imagine athlete, when it comes to his ability to tuck it and run. He also knew the offense inside and out. He was a technician in that sense. But being able to just drop back and spin the rock man, Carson Beck has got that in spades.”

Evidently, PicKell believes Beck’s arm-talent is that much greater than Bennett’s that the Bulldogs will be more than fine moving forward, and that their new quarterback could receive numerous accolades next season.

“Carson Beck again, you would argue, has more talent, more ability to what Stetson Bennett had,” PicKell said. “So you’re sitting back and saying, ‘Stetson Bennett, a former walk-on, really grew in this system and really thrived, what can someone with more talent do in this system?’ I don’t think it’s going to take long for Carson Beck, I really don’t. He gets those first three or four games to get his feet wet, but I don’t think it’s going to take long for Carson Beck.

“I think we’re talking about Carson Beck being a guy who challenges for a spot in New York City for the Heisman Trophy Ceremony. I think we’re talking about a guy who puts up really, really good passing numbers. Well over 30 touchdowns. Carson Beck is going to be a dude. Truly believe that.”

Time will tell if JD PicKell is proven right about Carson Beck, but Stetson Bennett set a high standard at Georgia over his time with the Bulldogs. It’s going to be tough to match, but PicKell has confidence in the Georgia signal-caller.
