Georgia looks to be as gettable as they’ve been in some time as they now have their second loss of this regular season. Now, after taking their whole season into consideration, there’s some real concern about them for Joel Klatt.

Klatt assessed the Bulldogs on his show on Monday following their 28-point loss this past weekend at Ole Miss. It was yet another poor outing from them in what he is starting to realize is far more common from them this year than what we have seen in years past.

“I kind of take stock of Georgia and you start to realize that the outlier moments for Georgia are not the poor play. It’s actually the great play,” said Klatt. “You see, in previous years, we’ve seen these games. Remember, Missouri a couple of years ago on the road, you know, Kentucky at times. We saw with the benefit of hindsight in those years that the anomaly, the outlier was the poor play. This year looks different for Georgia because the outlier is actually the quality play. The second half against Clemson, the second half against Alabama, the first half against Texas.”

“Outside of that, there’s not a lot of moments in the season where you’re just like, man, Georgia was ‘Georgia!’, ‘They were great!'” Klatt said. “So that’s a problem.”

That’s not the kind of team that they’re expected to be at Georgia. It’s also not one that they can’t now afford to be with two losses affecting their resume for and chances at making the College Football Playoff.

“Now they’re sitting there with two losses. They cannot lose another game,” said Klatt. “I’m about to talk about all of the SEC. Like, the SEC will, will have a 10-2 team that gets left out of the playoff. So, just think about that. So, Georgia? Their backs are against the wall.”

That’s especially so with who Georgia will play next as Tennessee is coming to be between the hedges in a primetime game on Saturday. They’re an opponent that Klatt thinks is now just as likely to beat the Bulldogs, if not more so, with how the game sets up.

“I think Georgia is in trouble. Nothing on that film suggested that they were going to figure something out in time to play Tennessee. I think Tennessee’s defense is actually a little bit better than Ole Miss’ defense,” Klatt said. “Now, Georgia has got to go see Tennessee. Tennessee? Their defense is really good – really good.”

“Thank goodness for Georgia that that game is going to be at home in Athens,” said Klatt.

No one would have thought that Georgia would eventually be in a have-to-have-it game this season based on what they’ve been. That’s the scenario they’ll be in the rest of the month, though, including come kickoff against the Volunteers this weekend.

“They are in a must-win now at home against Tennessee, who’s a very good football team. That’s not a good spot to be in. That’s not a spot that Georgia wants to be in,” said Klatt. “We’ll see how they play in that one.”
