Georgia trending up for 4-star CB Jontae Gilbert after recent visit
Earlier this year, Georgia wasn’t among the top schools on Atlanta (Ga.) Douglass four-star cornerback Jontae Gilbert‘s list.
He visited Georgia a few times in the fall and before defensive backs coach Fran Brown left for Syracuse. Georgia has climbed into Gilbert’s recruitment as of late. New defensive backs coach Donte Williams re-connected Georgia with Gilbert as the spring evaluation period came to a close.
But the Bulldogs have come on strong for the No. 135 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings since he camped in the early weeks of the summer. He also took an official visit to Georgia on June 7 and returned to Athens this past weekend for an unofficial visit.
“The message I got from them this weekend was that they want me,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons after his official visit. “They are very high on me now because I went to camp, ran good and looked good during drills. They love how I came and competed and won most of my reps last week.”
Bulldogs making a move in the final weeks with Gilbert
Coming out of his most recent trip — expected to be his last before he announces his commitment on August 10 — the Bulldogs are trending up in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). On Monday, Simmons logged an expert pick in favor of UGA.

“I’m communicating with them a lot,” Gilbert told DawgsHQ earlier this month. “It’s crazy when Kirby Smart is calling my head coach. They have a good relationship. Coach Pritchett played in the NFL so they have a lot going on.”
There are nearly two weeks left for Gilbert to make his decision. The fit is the main priority at this point for the four-star cornerback, he added.
“It’s really about where I fit in at really,” Gilbert said. “I’m trying to get on the field early and compete at a high level.”
