Jordan Davis will never be forgotten in the minds of Georgia Bulldogs fans.

On Friday, the star defensive linemen took to social media to write a heartfelt goodbye to his school and fanbase.

“November 16, 2017. That’s the day I committed to the University of Georgia, and the day my life changed forever. I came here as a freshman, with one goal in mind; all I wanted to do, from the bottom of my heart, was bring a National Championship back to Athens. As I sit here now, and reflect upon the past four years, I can confidently say I have accomplished everything I had set out to do on that day five years ago.”

Jordan Davis then made a point to thank the coaching and support staff.

“I want to start by thanking my coaches. To Coach Smart: Thank you for taking a chance on a kid out of Charlotte, NC. You brought me in and made me feel at home. Georgia football is in the best of hands moving forward with you at the helm. Coach Scott: I wouldn’t be here without you today. You gave me my first offer as a high school sophomore and have been with me every step of the way. I am a better man for having you in my life. Thank you, and I love you both. And to every coach that has been part of the program the past four years, thank you as well. Thank you for pushing me every day to be a batter man, player and leader. I love you all. To the Georgia Support Staff, you are truly the unsung heroes. You are the heartbeat of this program and made us better each and every day. Your wavering devotion and dedication to this team does not go unnoticed.”

The Georgia Bulldogs’ big man closed it out by thanking his teammates and the fanbase before acknowledging he was entering the NFL Draft.

Jordan Davis was the 2021 winner of the Outland Trophy, given annually to college football’s top interior lineman, and the Chuck Bednarik Award, given annually to college football’s best defensive player. He was also a consensus first-team All American and a unanimous All-SEC selection. The Georgia defensive linemen was also a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and for the Lott IMPACT Trophy.

During the 2021 campaign, he racked up 32 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and a pass breakup in his final season. Davis also had two carries for two yards and a touchdown.

While Davis still has one year of eligibility remaining, it’s no surprise he is declaring for the NFL Draft where many experts peg him as a first-round selection.
