Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep four-star defensive lineman Jordan Thomas visited numerous schools during his recruitment. While on Georgia‘s campus, he had a different feeling.

During his official visit last weekend, Thomas privately committed to the Bulldogs in a meeting with head coach Kirby Smart. On Tuesday, he made the news official by choosing Georgia over Florida, LSU, South Carolina and Tennessee.

“Georgia is the best choice for me,” Thomas said. “Some of the things I love about Georgia are the people, how everyone cares about each other, how the academics are top-tier and how they produce great defensive linemen. I was around the players and the coaches on the visit and I loved how everyone cares for each other. All are cool people, I trust the people at Georgia and that is big for me.”

Thomas is the No. 112 overall prospect and No. 15 defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in New Jersey.

“Georgia is a great program that is never satisfied,” Thomas said. “They always want to work. They always want to grind. Georgia never settles. They want to keep winning championships. I am going into a championship program at Georgia.”

Georgia’s coaches made Thomas feel like a priority

Two coaches played a key role in Thomas’ decision. They are defensive line coach Tray Scott and defensive backs coach Fran Brown, a New Jersey native.

“Coach Tray Scott is a great coach that knows how to coach defensive linemen,” Thomas said. “He is a hard coach that goes hard on his players, but he is about that tough love. He is going to make his players better. He and Georgia have been on me hard from the beginning and he made me feel wanted. Georgia always made me feel wanted.”

“Coach Fran Brown was big in this too,” he added. “He is a Jersey guy like me and he always has my back. We talk almost every day and we have a great relationship. We can relate to each other, I feel comfortable with him and it was good to have someone like him down at Georgia. Coach Brown is just another guy I can go to at Georgia.”
