Kamari Lassiter happy to see RaRa Thomas, Dominic Lovett on his sideline now
Georgia Bulldogs defensive Kamari Lassiter has enjoyed going to spring practice this year thanks to the program’s additions from the transfer portal. Georgia added a pair of former SEC rival wideouts in, Rara Thomas from Mississippi State and Dominic Lovett from Missouri.
Lassiter’s excitement with the addition of Lovett and Thomas is twofold. He enjoys the fact that the duo is now on the same roster as him, and he loves that he gets to compete with them every practice, making Georgia spring practices highly competitive. During a recent press conference, Lassiter went into detail on both of those topics.
“Well, I’m glad that they’re my teammates now. Those guys are really good players,” said Lassiter. “Guarding them last year, I had to watch a lot of film on both those guys, just to make sure I was on my A-game. But bringing them to Georgia, it just increases the intensity of practicing. The competition level between the receivers and the DBs — that’s some things guys like me — [they’re] ultra-competitive guys; I like that. I want the best guys to be here, and they wanna go against the best guys as well. So, just those guys being here, it’s really good for us.
Lovett is the No. 8 overall transfer to hit the portal this year, according to the On3 Transfer Portal Rankings, after an impressive season with Mizzou. He totaled 846 yards and three touchdowns for the Tigers this year before entering the portal Dec. 5. Meanwhile, Thomas — On3’s No. 21-ranked receiver transfer — also had an impressive season in the late Mike Leach’s Air Raid offense, hauling in 44 receptions for 626 yards and seven touchdowns.

“I think those guys are showing it. I mean, I think that they’re bought into, you know, the Georgia way and the way we do things around here. Obviously, when you first get here, in your first couple of practices, things are a little different because we do things differently here. But I’d say that those guys have bought in and that, and they’re just gonna keep buying in.
For Lassiter, this is a case of iron sharpening iron. Also, he doesn’t have to worry about game planning for Thomas and Lovett next season. As for Georgia, they just continue to add to their already deep pool of talent. The Bulldogs look ready to start their quest to become back-to-back-to-back national champions, keeping an iron grip on the college football world.
