Kario Oquendo reveals how he's feeling physically at this point in the season
With the Georgia basketball team having had the past 11 days off, junior guard Kario Oquendo has gotten some much needed rest and recuperation. A starter for the Bulldogs, Oquendo has already missed three games this season due to injury, but is nearing full strength once again.
After sitting out back-to-back games because of leg contusion, Oquendo made his return to the lineup on Dec. 6 against Georgia Tech, scoring 15 points and grabbing a season-high seven rebounds. Now as the team prepares for a matchup with Notre Dame on Sunday, Oquendo assured reporters he is making progress.
“I’m feeling pretty good,” he said. “I just came off of a leg contusion. I’m feeling about 100% right now. …It feels good because the day that I had gotten the leg contusion, I came back and I had another injury that I had kind of an overuse type of injury. Coming back off that the day I got hurt, I felt 100% that day. It’s getting better.”
After leading Georgia with 15.2 points per game last season, Kario Oquendo has maintained his role in the offense to average 13.9 through seven games this year. He is shooting 41% from the floor and 35.3% from 3-point range.

The Bulldogs are off to a 7-3 start in coach Mike White’s inaugural season, already having surpassed their win total from last season’s 6-26 finish. That said, they have yet to take down a true quality opponent in nonconference play and lost 79-77 to the Yellow Jackets in their most recent game.
They’ll have the opportunity to bounce back with a big win against a Fighting Irish team that is also 7-3 thus far. Notre Dame is led in scoring by forward Nate Laszewski (14.9 points per game) and is also looking to bounce back from a lost to Marquette in its most recent game.
Tip-off between the Fighting Irish and Bulldogs is set for 5:30 p.m. ET on Sunday in Atlanta.
