Georgia already faced one athletic transfer quarterback in Bo Nix when it faced Oregon in Week 1. Now, the Bulldogs are getting ready to take on South Carolina and Spencer Rattler — and Kirby Smart said they’re ready.
Georgia dominated Nix and the Ducks en route to a 49-3 win in Week 1 and will try for a repeat performance in Week 3. However, Smart said his group has a unique advantage because the Bulldogs go against another athletic quarterback in practice in Stetson Bennett.
That’s why Smart isn’t worried about how his team will do against Rattler and the Gamecocks.

“I think it helps anytime you face an athletic quarterback,” Smart said. “We face one every day, so it’s like one of those deals that you get better the more you face a guy who has athleticism.
“Spencer’s a little different than Bo. He’s a really good athlete, he’s got great arm strength, he’s got a lot of playing experience. But each guy’s different because their offenses are different.”

Kirby Smart weighs in on the job Shane Beamer has done at South Carolina
SEC play is set to begin on Saturday for Kirby Smart and Georgia. The annual early season showdown against South Carolina is set to take place, with Smart going up against a former assistant.
Shane Beamer is running the show in Columbia, getting his team off to a 1-1 start.
During his weekly press conference, Smart took some time to praise the work Beamer has done at South Carolina. He complimented the energy the head coach has bought, mainly through hiring a “great staff.” While they might be division rivals, there seems to be nothing but respect from Smart’s end.
“When I hired Shane, I had known him for a very long time,” Smart said. “He was interested in coming and thought it would be a great opportunity to jump into the SEC, be a part of our program. And he did. He’s created a lot of energy through his program through enthusiasm. They have a great staff at South Carolina and just creating an environment of competition through their program to compete at a high level.”
