Kirby Smart shares how life around Georgia has changed since winning CFP
Since capturing the national championship back in January, the Georgia Bulldogs have been on top of the college football world. But how has all the success of becoming the top dogs of the college football world changed life for the Bulldogs so far?
Well, while being a guest on the Paul Finebaum Show on Friday, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart discussed how life has changed for the team since winning the College Football Playoff.
“Well, it’s a credit to a great university and leadership and it’s been fun. But the honeymoon long over, when we started spring practice,” said Smart. “But you know how short the memory is in the SEC. You’ve seen a lot of folks kind of enjoy that too long and not turn it around. So we’ve been focused really hard on next year.”
Smart is aware of the challenge ahead of him and the program as they attempt to defend their national championship crown. And to a slightly smaller degree, survive their cannibalistic conference known as the SEC. However, the Bulldogs’ headman does not feel uncomfortable with the buzz around the team.
“It’s great. I think it’s brought a lot of electricity to the state. You know, the Braves winning; they’ve honored both teams. All that’s awesome, and obviously it’s a long time since the last one,” he said. So, you know there’s a lot of pats on the back, but I’ve told all our team all the people in our organization those pats can become knives if you’re not careful. You gotta keep grinding. I know you know that we’ve enjoyed it. We’re not to the point where we don’t enjoy winning. We’ve enjoyed that part of it but there’s so much work that goes into every season; you can’t sit back and look at the last one.”

“Former 5-star recruit and Georgia offensive lineman Amarius Mims intends to sign with Florida State Football,” stated Warchant.com on Wednesday.
The decision follows a recruiting effort that showed the Seminoles welcomed the highly recruited talent in an interesting fashion. Head coach Mike Norvell and his coaching staff greeted Mims with a car stereo blaring the Florida State war chant, setting the tone for their recruiting effort. Amarius Mims was heavily recruited by Florida State prior to his signing with Georgia last year, and that relationship continued into his transfer recruiting this season.
Mims, a 6’7″ 330-pound lineman, will be a sophomore this season after playing nine games with the national champion Georgia Bulldogs.
Prior to signing Mims, the Seminoles have the No. 19 recruiting class in the country this year, according to the On3 Consensus Team Rankings, and are bringing in 10 transfers. Among their additions is Mycah Pittman, who’s coming in from Oregon, and former Wisconsin offensive lineman Kayden Lyles. However, Pittman left Florida State’s spring game last week with an apparent injury.
