Kirby Smart updates Georgia's injury situation in Fall camp, latest on DT Jordan Hall, RB Roderick Robinson
Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart met with reporters during Fall Camp. There, he shared an injury update on several players, including defensive tackle Jordan Hall and running back Roderick Robinson, which Seth Emerson has since shared.
In the case of Hall, Smart shared that he has a stress fracture in his tibia. For now, there’s no timetable for his return but added that it “is not a long-term deal.” As for Robinson, he has a toe injury but Smart didn’t elaborate on the severity of the toe injury.
There is certainly concern for Hall, who is a former five-star recruit in the Class of 2023, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. Hall was also expected to be a big piece of the defense after playing in 10 games total and playing over 100 snaps. He previously missed the start of preseason camp with a tibia stress fracture that ended up requiring surgery. That was in the other leg that his current tibia stress fracture is in.
This injury isn’t expected to be a long-term issue, but at the same time, DawgsHQ has reported that it’s likely Hall is going to miss the start of the season. Hall was also seen on Tuesday off to the side with Warren Brinson and Jared Wilson, both of whom are also dealing with injuries.
The other two players who Kirby Smart made sure to share injury updates on were center Jared Wilson and linebacker Chaz Chambliss. In the case of Wilson, he has Achilles tendinitis and has been working on the side. Chambliss has then been dealing with a hamstring and that he’s been able to do some but not everything in practice.

If there is a strength that Georgia and Smart can rely on while dealing with these injuries it’s the team’s depth. In particular, Georgia has experience on the defensive line, with Nazir Stackhouse, Warren Brinson, and Christen Miller.
Brinson has been dealing with an Achilles issue since the start of Fall Camp. Notably, it’s the opposite one he had an issue with in Spring and is working to get back for the regular season. Thanks to some of these injuries, Smart has known since the start of camp that Georgia will need to rely on young players. As the injuries stack up, that’s only becoming more true.
“We’ve gotta get the young guys to play,” Smart said to open preseason camp. “You never have enough defensive linemen, so just from the jump street, we’ve got some big bodies in that room, but we’ve got some inexperienced big bodies. So it’s really important that we establish depth, that we’re looking at a potentially longer season.”
Georgia opens its season with a tricky game, playing Clemson at a neutral site to open the season.
