Kirby Smart updates Georgia QB situation ahead of Auburn rivalry game
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has revealed who he is planning to start at quarterback on Saturday against Auburn. Prior to the game, Smart told reporter Jenny Dell that it will “probably” be Stetson Bennett starting at quarterback for Georgia. Smart did go on to say that JT Daniels should be available to play if he has to.
“We’ll see how he is during warmups,” Smart said of Daniels. “He was able to take some of the reps during the week. He threw more on Thursday than he has all week and he didn’t have any pain. So, as he continues to throw and warm up, we think he’s going to get much better.”
If it is indeed Bennett under center for Georgia, it will be his third consecutive game starting at quarterback. Bennett has completed 70.7 percent of his passes this season for 515 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also has 85 yards on ten rushing attempts.
Daniels has thrown for 567 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions this season.
Georgia will get star wide receiver George Pickens back on Saturday against Auburn. It is unknown if Pickens will be fully unleashed right away, but he is healthy enough to travel with the team and likely to make his season debut after suffering a torn ACL back in March.

Auburn prepared for both Georgia quarterbacks
Coming into the game, Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin treated the Georgia quarterback situation just like any other positon. Harsin said that Auburn has an overall game plan on defense, and that quarterback is no different than preparing for any other position.
“When you have a gameplan, you understand there’s different players and it’s not just the quarterback,” stated Harsin. “Look at when they put different tight ends in the game. When they put different tailbacks in the game. There’s things from a defensive standpoint you need to be ready for, when they’re utilizing different personnel. Quarterback is one of them as well.”
