Georgia is hosting some of the top players in the country this weekend. One of them is Buford (Ga.) Five-Star Plus+ safety KJ Bolden.

The 6-foot-0, 185-pound defensive back was last in Athens on April 15. He will be back at Georgia on June 9 for an official visit.

“Just come home,” Bolden told On3’s Chad Simmons on Feb. 15 about the Bulldogs’ message to him. “We’re building something real special and you got a great opportunity to get on the field early and it’s down the road, so why not?”

Bolden is the No. 5 overall prospect and No. 1 safety in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Georgia.

Other schools to receive official visits from the 6-foot-0, 185-pound defensive back are Clemson (June 2), Ohio State (June 17), Alabama (June 23) and Auburn (September 29). ArkansasFlorida and Florida State are more programs to may get an official from Bolden in the future.

Bolden originally planned to commit during the summer. Now, he will reveal his college decision during the season following his official visits.

Regarding Georgia, Bolden is one of multiple five-stars on campus this weekend, alongside Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Dylan Raiola (Georgia commit) and Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver Jeremiah Smith (Ohio State commit). Other visitors include Lindale (Texas) four-star interior offensive lineman Casey Poe and Swainsboro (Ga.) four-star cornerback commit Demello Jones (Georgia commit).

Bolden discusses his interest in other schools

Alabama is another school that has caught the attention of Bolden. He last visited the Crimson Tide on April 5 and discussed his interest in the Crimson Tide with Joseph Hastings of BamaInsider.

He also discussed other programs of interest with Simmons.

Arkansas: “Just being in the country, I didn’t expect a lot out of Arkansas. But they love all their sports. Their fanbase is really big on Arkansas sports and I like that.”

Auburn: “Coach Zac (Etheridge), the safeties coach, he was telling me how he’d utilize me and he was showing me how he utilizes all his safeties and the way Auburn uses their safeties.”

Clemson: “They don’t really recruit a lot of people. They keep it small, they only recruit like two or three guys at your position. They’re waiting for me to commit… They’ve been showing a lot of love to me. They text me every day.”

Florida State: “(Patrick Surtain Sr. is) a really cool guy. He cares about you a lot. He texts me to see what I’m up to and checks on my family.”

Ohio State: “My cousin (Perry Eliano) is the safeties coach, so he stays on me. He’s been calling my mom.”
