Lewis Cine is part of one of the best defenses in the history of college football. Still, he’s not believing all the publicity and propaganda regarding his unit.
Prior to their showdown with the Michigan Wolverines in the College Football Playoff, the Georgia defensive back revealed his thoughts on his defense’s vulnerability.
“Let’s use the situation of Alabama using to A&M. I’m pretty sure they had a wakeup call, too. The same way we did losing to them,” Cine stated. “Losing that game gave us a wakeup call. To know that, we’re not invincible.
“We have a good defense, we have a great team. But we can lose if we’re not in our top shape, if we’re not ready. So, every guy is sharp right now. Really on their toes. To learn, to soak everything in — to do things the right way moving forward.”
Thus far, Cine is having his best season of his Bulldogs career. In 2021, the junior defensive back has accumulated 61 tackles, eight pass-defenses and one interception on the year.
The mindset for Lewis Cine and Georgia has been one of ridiculous motivation following their loss to Alabama. When Michigan takes the field, they’ll feel the full wrath of an angry Bulldogs squad.

Nolan Smith on Georgia’s mindset: ‘New life.’
Furthermore, Lewis Cine shares the same mindset as linebacker Nolan Smith. To illustrate, Smith stated that the mindset of the team heading into the College Football Playoff is that they have a new life. Following their loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, the Bulldogs have faith in their ability to rebound.
“New life. I will say that, new life,” stated Smith. “Coach Smart has even said it, ‘it is a one game season.’ What we did before, congratulations and what we did before it is not that bad we can always learn from our mistakes. But it is new life, it is one game and you have to win to advance.
“I think a lot of guys are ready to work and we are happy that we have this opportunity. A lot of people watch Georgia football for a long time and a lot of people didn’t get this opportunity that we have had and now that we have it we have to seize it. I tell the guys every day, ‘let’s just come work. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other one.’”
Prior to the College Football Playoff, Lewis Cine, Nolan Smith and the entire Bulldogs squad has the right mindset. Time will tell if it’s enough to defeat a capable Michigan team.
