Lewis Cine gives candid take on relationship with Deion Sanders
New Minnesota Viking Lewis Cine received tutelage from another legendary NFL defensive back during his high school days. Before attending the University of Georgia, Cine played high school ball for Trinity Christian in Cedar Hill, Texas. One of the coordinators for that team while Cine was there? Deion Sanders.
When asked about Sanders’ coaching after being drafted, Cine gave heartfelt remarks. “He’s a real humble guy. Real loving. Real spiritual. He has his mind straight.”
Cine expressed that he sees a different side of Sanders — the one focused on bettering his young players. He says Sanders is “a long way from how people see him” as a coach. The former pro star is open and approachable to his guys. Players like Cine have “gotten the chance to know him as a person in a deeper level.” Which Cine says has taught him “a whole lot in terms of life, finances and relationships.”
Far beyond any tips Sanders can give on how to play defensive back, Cine has learned by example from Deion Sanders the person. He “always had a lecture,” Cine remembers. “I’m grateful for him. I’m blessed to say that he’s in my corner.”

Cine reveals why Kirby Smart is as happy as him about NFL Draft
It’s always a joy when your players get drafted, but the feeling seeing them set records could be even greater. That’s exactly what Georgia did during the first round of the draft, as five Bulldogs defenders were taken in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft — a new record.
According to 32nd pick Lewis Cine, Georgia coach Kirby Smart may have beat him out for the happiest person involved when the former Bulldog set the record with the last pick of the first round.
“I’ll tell you who’s happy other than myself, Kirby Smart is happy,” joked Cine. “He’s real happy. He set history for the school. University is excited. So, I think it’s only up from here, in-terms of other guys getting drafted. Who knows, that may not be the only record we set. So, Kirby’s really happy.”
Lewis Cine’s name will forever be etched in Georgia history. Still, record or not, Kirby Smart would be happy for his star defender — but man, setting that mark must feel pretty dang good for the Bulldogs coach.
