LOOK: James Cook pens goodbye letter following national championship win
James Cook helped end the drought in Georgia. After the memorable victory over Alabama in the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship Game, Cook is moving on with his football career.
On Wednesday, the Georgia running back penned a goodbye letter to Georgia faithful.
“Dawg Nation, Monday night still feels surreal,” started Cook. “Bringing a national championship to Athens was the ultimate goal of my college football career, and that has now been completed.
“I want to thank every single person that supported us throughout the season, and the love I have for you all is forever. I’d also like to thank my family, Coach Smart, Coach McGee, the athletic training staff and the University of Georgia. 4 out.”
James Cook was fantastic in his final game with the Bulldogs, rushing for 77 yards on six carries against Alabama. Moreover, his 67-yard rush against the Crimson Tide gained Georgia serious momentum when they needed it.

In his career with Georgia, Cook rushed for 1,503 yards on 230 attempts. Additionally, the star running back accumulated 14 rushing touchdowns. Cook made an impact through the air as well, catching 67 passes for 730 yards and six touchdowns over four seasons.
Moreover, Cook saved his best season for last in Athens. In 2021, Cook carried the football 113 times for 728 yards and seven touchdowns. Additionally, he caught 27 passes for 284 yards and four touchdowns. Throughout their championship season, Cook was one of the biggest threats on their offense.
The contributions James Cook made to the Georgia Bulldogs won’t be soon forgotten. Georgia faithful only has love for the star running back, and Cook’s love for the Bulldogs was evident in his goodbye letter.
