Mark Ingram might make Alabama fans squeal when they hear him say he thinks Georgia is the best team in college football.

As the world turns we guess. The Bulldogs are back at the top, according to Ingram. This comes straight after Georgia’s road win over Texas.

Ingram explained on The Triple Option why Georgia is now the best team in the country once again, despite Oregon being No. 1 in the AP Poll.

“Georgia, Georgia, Georgia,” Ingram said, singing the classic Ray Charles song. “We just spoke about it. (Alabama folks) should be losing their mind about what’s going on in Tuscaloosa, not a proposal about what I’m saying. Because we got way bigger issues than me saying Georgia is the best team in the country right now. But yes, Oregon, yes, you can easily say and justify why they would be ranked No. 1. Yeah, they beat Ohio State, who we still think is the most talented team in the country, who we still think is one of the best teams in the country. But Georgia, the way they went into Austin and dominated a Texas football team, who we all thought was the most complete team in the nation when their quarterback didn’t have his best game. It says a lot to me. It says that this team could win when it’s ugly. This team could win purely off the strength of their offensive line, D-line, their running game, their pass rush, their ability to dominate in the trenches. They could win strictly off of that.

“Their quarterback, Carson Beck, who we all think is one of the best QBs in the country. He threw three interceptions, no touchdowns. So he wasn’t really a huge factor in the game. Yes, he did make some great completions. Did move the chains … but he was not the difference maker who he could be, who he can be. They went into Austin and dominated that game.”

Georgia back on top as best team in college football?

As Ingram pointed out, Beck threw three interceptions and Georgia still controlled the game. Not to mention that their season-opening win looks a lot better now.

“So I think Georgia, right now, is the best team in the country because of the wins they had,” Ingram said. “They beat a Clemson team who was currently ranked No. 9. Everyone wrote Clemson off week one. They made Clemson look so bad, everybody wrote Clemson off like Clemson is done. No now Clemson looks a lot better than everybody thought. Clemson looks like a playoff team right now. Yes, they’re No. 9. You know, they’re on a collision course with Miami.”

Look at Georgia’s loss to Alabama. It was an absolutely wild affair and the bulldogs still had that game nearly won. Sure, almost only counts in horseshoes, not football. But Ingram still pointed it out.

“They have a loss to Alabama, who had to play out of their freaking mind in the first half, and they were still up at the end of that game,” Ingram said. “So this Georgia team is still finding ways to put it together. They’re not playing the best football, and they’re still winning, and they’re still dominating. I chose them to win the national championship earlier in the week on Big Noon Kickoff, and right now I look like a pretty damn good analyst. But they’re the number one team in the country right now in my book.”
