Mel Kiper Jr. explains Brock Bowers No. 4 on big board
NFL Draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. is incredibly high on Georgia tight end Brock Bowers. He’s so high on the Bulldogs playmaker, in fact, that he is currently No. 4 on Kiper’s big board.
On First Draft, Kiper explained that a huge part of why he has Bowers ranked so highly is his consistency and the floor that comes with a player like him.
“To me, what Brock does when you talk about consistency over the period of years and game-in and game-out, and his effort, and the way he catches the ball, and the way he can run after the catch,” Mel Kiper Jr. said. “The one game the speed that he showed after the catch, the determination. Everything about him is conducive to success and will lead to success in the NFL.”
Brock Bowers may be punished in the NFL Draft due to his position. Tight ends are rarely drafted at the top of the first round. Kyle Pitts out of Florida went fourth overall in 2022 to the Atlanta Falcons. But it’s very rare overall.
Brock Bowers has played in 40 games at Georgia, making 175 receptions for 2,538 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also has five rushing touchdowns.

“I think in terms of the fact of where we have him, we might have pushed him up too high where I did. I just looked at a guarantee. You know what you’re getting, as opposed to some other guys where there’s maybe a higher ceiling but a little bit of a bust factor. You’re gonna get a guy where you know what you’re getting, you know you’re going to get production, you know you’re getting immediate return on your investment, you’re going to be getting a kid who’s giving it everything he has every time he’s out there, practice field, game day, everywhere,” Kiper said.
“So, that’s why I moved him up probably a little higher than some people had him”
Brock Bowers explains what he learned from ankle injury
This season Brock Bowers has been dealing with an ankle injury that has severely limited his playing time during the second half of the season. Still, for Bowers, there was plenty that he was able to learn from the injury moving forward.
“I guess just learning how to work through things, having a purpose to come back and wanting to come back,” Bowers said.
“It kind of made me appreciate the things I had before, because when you get in the grind, you don’t really think about it. When it gets taken away from you that fast, you’re like, ‘Man, this sucks,’ then you’ve got to get back into it. It kind of gives you a whole new perspective on it.”
