Mike White addresses where Georgia stands on NCAA Tournament bubble

The SEC has largely been seen as the deepest conference in college basketball in the 2024-25 season. Amid that challenging conference slate, head coach Mike White has had the Georgia Bulldogs playing improved basketball late in the season, winning four games in a row to end the regular season.
While White is not focused on the NCAA Tournament during the season, he is happy with how things have gone recently. With that, he does believe that the Bulldogs will make it to the NCAA Tournament and are off the bubble.
“Process,” Mike White said. “That’s it. I’m sorry. I know y’all want more than that. I’m sorry, that’s where we’re at. Day off tomorrow. Monday have a great practice. These guys have embraced that. They’ve bought into it. They continue to just get better because we’re not focused on that big picture.”
Georgia now sits at 20-11 overall with an 8-10 record in SEC play this season. The Bulldogs are, according to the latest bracketology from ESPN, one of the teams with the Last Four Byes in the NCAA Tournament. That equates to a 10-seed. In On3’s most recent bracketology, Georgia is more secure as a 9-seed.
In either case, those are projections for the NCAA Tournament and it’s difficult to know exactly what the selection committee is thinking. Still, the recent four-game winning streak has been massive in becoming more secure this March.

“This is all I’ll say about it. I would assume we’re in. I mean, we’re good, we’re good. Our whole league is good,” White said. “And there’s going to be a bunch of teams in our league that make it and that do damage in the NCAA tournament. But we’re focused right now on having a great practice again on Monday, prepping to play well, to continue to ride this momentum, to continue to improve in Nashville one day at a time. That’s it.”
Mike White is now in his third season with the Georgia Bulldogs and has yet to make it to the NCAA Tournament. Last season, he took the Bulldogs to the NIT. That was with a 16-15 record heading into the SEC Tournament. So, making the NCAA Tournament would be a massive leap.
One way that White and Georgia can remove all doubt about the postseason is by going on a deep run in the SEC Tournament. The field is set there and the Bulldogs will begin their run on March 12th as an 11-seed in the SEC Tournament. They’re set to take on Oklahoma in the first round. A couple of wins would likely secure their spot in the NCAA Tournament. A loss could put them in jeopardy, especially if there are upsets in conference tournaments around the country.
