Mike White believes Terry Roberts can continue to grow in SEC play
Georgia has found a diamond in the rough in senior guard Terry Roberts. After playing for Florida Southwestern and Bradley, he transferred to Athens and is now giving Mike White and the Bulldogs a ton of production.
However, White believes Roberts is only going to improve as he plays more games within their league. Following Roberts’ third 20-point game in the SEC, White says his lead guard is only going to grow as he continues to face top competition night in and night out.
“He’s a relentless competitor, he’s growing in confidence. He’s understanding what it takes to be successful at this level. But he’s also got a ways to go,” said White. “I mean he’s only a few games into playing consecutive, high-level games for the first time in his life.”
“He’s a very good player, obviously, and he’s going to continue to get better,” White said.
Roberts is averaging 15.9 points, 4.1 assists, four rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game. In SEC play, though, he has put up 20.4 points per game to go with 4.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.6 steals over five games. That includes 26 points against Auburn, 25 against Florida, and 21 against Kentucky where he put on a show in Rupp Arena in a battle against Oscar Tshiebwe.
Still, even with those notches under his belt so far, White believes the best is yet to come for Roberts. Georgia will need it too as they’ll continue their conference slate this weekend against Vanderbilt.

WATCH: Georgia to wear jersey patches memorializing Willock, LeCroy
Tragedy struck the University and Georgia and the Georgia athletic department over the weekend as a football player and recruiting staffer were killed in a single-car crash.
To honor them on Tuesday night and for the rest of the season, the Georgia men’s basketball team will wear a patch to memorialize them. Forward Jabri Abdur-Rahim explained why to his teammates in a short video posted by Georgia men’s basketball.
“We just, me and coach White came up with the idea to put a patch on the jersey to memorialize them in the game tonight and, I think, moving forward,” Abdur-Rahim said. “So, you guys will join me in wearing this patch just to remember them. [Devin] was my friend and me and Kario [Oquendo] kind of knew him. Obviously the university is going through something right now. So just to kind of show our support and memorialize him and show support for his family, we’re going to do this tonight and going forward.”
