Mike White openly shares message to Georgia after handing Arkansas first SEC win
Georgia traveled to Fayetteville on Wednesday to take on an Arkansas team hungry for its first win in conference play. The Razorbacks ultimately bested the Bulldogs 68-65 thanks to a late flurry to drop Georgia to 14-5 on the season.
Leading by as many as 15 points in the first half, Arkansas outscored the Bulldogs 42-27 during the final 20 minutes. UGA head coach Mike White revealed the message he sent to his team postgame.
“I just told our guys very matter of fact, we love our guys, great group, very capable. Did some good things,” White said. “But the biggest message was nine turnovers in the second half. Half of our teams were in foul trouble because, for the most part, we couldn’t keep the ball out of the paint with their speed and quickness. Our gap detail was just okay.
“That cost us at times and some inadvertent fouls. But at the end of the day, we got eight extra possessions, and they got 18.”
Georgia totaled 13 turnovers during the game, which led to 18 points for the Razorbacks.
“Mental toughness is doing what’s hard all the time when you feel like it’s not when it’s going well for you, not when the crowd’s quiet,” White continued. “We’ve just got to get better.”

Mike White labels Arkansas as ‘very, very good’ after loss
Arkansas has not had the best start to the year, particularly in SEC play. The Razorbacks are 12-7 (1-5) with 12 games remaining. Still, Georgia head coach Mike White is impressed with Arkansas and spoke highly of John Calipari’s team after Arkansas beat the Bulldogs 68-65 on Wednesday.
“Arkansas was good. They’re a very, very good team,” Mike White said.
There’s no doubt that Arkansas has some talent and that John Calipari has brought in some really good players. For whatever reason, though, everything hasn’t come together for the Razorbacks yet.
With that said, Mike White believes there is still time for Arkansas to go on a run and turn things around down the stretch.
“This is one of the only leagues, maybe there’s another one like it, that’s in the same ballpark, where you can get off to a tough start, anyone really in this league, and reel off a few,” Mike White said. “Or win a few and then struggle for a few. Because everybody in this league’s really good, and Arkansas is very, very good.”
