What Mike White learned from the two wins against ranked opponents this week for Georgia is that there’s still more for the Bulldogs to be better about as a team that’s currently at 14-2.

Following the second of two wins against Top-25 teams, White was asked what his takeaway was about his team.

“We’ll continue to learn and grow,” said White yesterday.

That was evident to him in how Georgia looked in preparation over the last few days for Oklahoma. After winning 82-69 over No. 6 Kentucky on Tuesday, White didn’t feel the Bulldogs prepared as well as they should have for what was a 72-62 win over No. 17 Oklahoma on Saturday.

He says that can’t be their approach if they want to continue what has been a great start in the SEC.

“Our detail wasn’t great tonight…Shootaround was okay today. So the handling of success from the other day I thought was good, not great, you know,” said White. “If you want to be in the upper half of this league, you know, you’ve got to respond to negativity, as we’ve talked about, and positivity. Pretty good but not great. Got to be better there.”

With that, White will now take note of how they respond to their run again when they play two of the best teams in the country this next week at Tennessee on Wednesday before hosting Auburn on Saturday.

So here we go. You know, you beat Oklahoma. What’s it going to look like these next few days preparing for, you know, another big one, another huge challenge?” White asked.

White shares how Georgia must respond to success, potential ranking this week

Mike White isn’t worried about rankings as it pertains to the Georgia Bulldogs.

Following a week where the Bulldogs knocked off a pair of Top-20 teams in Athens, White had pride in how his squad played but says they’ll have to be even better this coming week, regardless if they’re in the AP Poll or not.

“We’ve already addressed the fact that we weren’t quite as sharp – and Oklahoma is really good – like, really good and they’re going to continue to win a bunch. They do a fantastic job. But, again, they didn’t shoot it great,” White said. “Our detail was good. Our mental toughness was very good. We were locked in the other day. So the response for a young team after beating No. 6 was pretty good. It needs to be great. Coming into this week, it’s got to be great.”

“If (entering the Top-25) were to happen, I’d be happy for our fans. I don’t really care,” White continued. “I want to reach our potential, to reach our ceiling and continue to get better and prepare well for this next one. If it happens, or doesn’t happen, we’re still going to talk about how we handle today’s success.”
