Arlington (Texas) Martin cornerback Javien Toviano has all kinds of eyes in the state of Texas upon him, but the nation’s No. 4 cornerback is looking at all of his options. Earlier this month, that meant a visit to LSU to meet the Tigers’ new coaching staff. And today and tomorrow, Toviano will be at Georgia.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder is the No. 30 overall prospect in the 2023 class,  according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. In addition to being a top-five cornerback in this class, Toviano also checks in as the No. 4 junior prospect in the state of Texas.

Javien Toviano looking to cut down his list soon

He told On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons over the weekend that he expects to cut his list down to six schools soon, likely in March or April.

In my head, I know of about six schools that are true contenders,” Toviano said. “I have not made a top list of schools or anything like that yet, but I am close to doing that.”

Both in-state schools — Texas and Texas A&M — have him as a top target on their board, as does TCU, Oregon, LSU, Oklahoma and USC. Georgia, which is one of the most recent schools to extend an offer, will look to make a major impression over the next two days.

“They are the most recent school to offer me and I will be there Wednesday and Thursday,” Toviano said. “Georgia is coming off a national championship, so it is a great program and I like what they have done with new coaches. … Coach Fran Brown is a [Dallas] Metroplex guy, and he is now coaching defensive backs at Georgia. We have that connection and I am high on him. I want to get out to Georgia and see what that is like.”

Toviano’s offer came on the heels of Georgia losing a commitment from four-star cornerback Kayin Lee. The Bulldogs currently have one player at the position committed — in-state top-60 prospect Marcus Washington.
