Spring will be a season of change for the Georgia football offense as the Bulldogs replace a starting quarterback, offensive coordinator and a spate of other key personnel. And it’s defensive players like Nazir Stackhouse who have a front row seat to see the changes.

So far, it’s been an adjustment. But Stackhouse is confident in his offensive counterparts to answer the call.

“We’ve just got a lot of guys who are just talented throughout the offensive core. It doesn’t really surprise me at all because I know that most of them are going to step up to the plate and make big plays in big games,” Stackhouse said.

The two biggest changes for Georgia will be replacing quarterback Stetson Bennett and installing whatever tweaks new offensive coordinator Mike Bobo brings in.

But beyond that, there are new personnel mixing in. Stackhouse sees them working through the kinks now, so it can be a smooth operation come fall.

“Just a new group of tight ends, new group of running backs. I would say we have a couple of changes on the offensive line. Not too different there. Some of the guys who were actually out, not actually starting on the O line were guy who were probably injured or guys who probably just didn’t get that opportunity. And now that I see a difference throughout the O line, it’s like OK, I see the dynamic. They’re still trying to get comfortable with the offense,” Stackhouse said.

Two groups, though, have stood out to Stackhouse. Unsurprisingly, they’re two of Georgia’s most talented on offense: tight end and wide receiver.

“Then the tight end group, you have Oscar Delp, Lawson Luckie, still got Brock Bowers. Just a really great group of talent,” Stackhouse said. “And receiver-wise, we’ve still got the same guys out there. Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, Arian Smith, C.J. Smith.”

And as for the most important position on the field? Stackhouse had high praise for all of the quarterbacks competing for the starting job for Georgia.

Carson (Beck)Brock VandagriffGunner Stockton, they all look great,” Stackhouse said. “They all look great. I couldn’t even compare them any different because them playing behind him, I’m pretty sure they gained a lot of information from him and talents.”

With the collection of talent assembled in Athens, there’s little reason to doubt that the 2023 Georgia offense will find its way sooner, rather than later.
