New Jersey 4-star DL Sydir Mitchell adds Georgia offer
Sydir Mitchell, the fifth-ranked player in New Jersey, has landed an offer from the Georgia Bulldogs.
The 6-foot-4 1/2, 345-pound four-star prospect announced the new offer Monday afternoon in a social media post. He said the offer came from UGA defensive line coach Tray Scott.
The new offer from Georgia adds to an already impressive offer list featuring programs like Penn State, Michigan, in-state Rutgers, Texas A&M, USC, Texas, Kentucky, Arkansas, Boston College, Florida State, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Maryland, West Virginia, Ole Miss and others. Notre Dame and Ohio State are also monitoring Sydir Mitchell but have yet to offer.
Sydir Mitchell ranks as the No. 303 player in the country, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Mitchell also ranks as the No. 39 defensive lineman in the country.
Mitchell has taken numerous visits throughout the recruiting process. This includes the most recent trips to both Michigan and Penn State in January. He visited national programs like Texas A&M and Ohio State this past summer.

Penn State is going all-in to land Sydir Mitchell. He’s listed as one of the Nittany Lions’ top overall prospects in the Class of 2023, according to Blue White Illustrated.

“I get the impression that Penn State will be a serious player here depending on how hard they push,” BWI’s Ryan Snyder said.
The Nittany Lions are currently favored as the team to beat for Mitchell. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Penn State has a 37.6% chance of landing Mitchell. Michigan and Rutgers are listed at 19.1%, while Texas A&M is at 6.7%.
It will be interesting to see what the new offer from Georgia does for his spring visit schedule. A trip to Athens could be key in helping answer that question.
