A new development has taken place regarding the legal situation surrounding former Georgia linebacker Adam Anderson. According to Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald, Anderson’s attorney filed a motion to have his felony rape charge dismissed.
“Adam Anderson’s attorney filed a motion on Thursday in an Athens court asking for the felony rape charge against the former Georgia star linebacker to be dismissed because a grand jury has yet to be presented with an indictment,” wrote Weiszer. “Anderson was arrested more than four months ago, and Steve Sadow, Anderson’s attorney, wrote in the motion to Chief Superior Court Judge Eric W. Norris that the District Attorney’s office hasn’t indicated when a grand jury would get the case.
“Sadow argues an NFL career for Anderson is ‘on indefinite hold,’ in the meantime.”
Additionally, Anderson’s attorney — Steve Sadow — stated that he hopes to get things moving along.
“We need the case to either get into court or be dismissed,” Sadow said in an interview, via Weiszer. “This is a mechanism that may achieve that purpose.”
Prior, Anderson was one of the top prospects available for the 2022 NFL Draft. According to Sadow, NFL scouts have told him that the former Georgia linebacker won’t be drafted until his case is figured out.

According to reports, the incident that Anderson was charged with occurred at an Athens residence on Oct. 29, and involved a 21-year old female. Anderson through his attorney has denied the accusation, and he’s been focused on defending himself since.
While Adam Anderson hopes to clear his name, NFL teams are keeping one-eye on the former Georgia pass rusher. Anderson was allowed to participate in Georgia’s Pro Day, but instead opted to hold his own private workout earlier this week at a local high school, according to reports. Pro Football Network revealed that as many as 17 NFL teams attended, so the potential NFL interest is there.
