Trading jabs with Tim Tebow has to be high on every Georgia football player’s bucket list and senior linebacker Nolan Smith checked that off his list on Wednesday at SEC Media Days. Asked if he thinks he or the Florida Gators legend can lift more weight, Smith came in hot with a blistering take.

“Tebow look big but I’m pretty sure, you know, as you age, your bones get brittle,” Smith said. “I don’t want to call Tebow out but I’m pretty sure he looks good, looks the part, but can he really still squat 500?”

The SEC Now crew cut to a reaction from the former Heisman Trophy winner watching the interview and he was loving it.

“I like it,” Tebow said. “Nolan, I may have to send you a video young man. First of all, I got to give him credit. When I shook his hand, it was like, dang. This is real. It’s not on Adrian Peterson’s level but his handshake is for real. You know that he’s a grown man. Nolan, I’m proud of you, you’re an awesome young man.”

SEC host Alyssa Lang asked Tebow a follow-up question about his max lifting capacity, to which he answered: “It depends what the person beside me is doing.”

Tebow impressed with Nolan Smith interview skills

The former Florida quarterback also pointed out how crisp and professional Smith was in his interviews on Wednesday.

“He literally was saying what Coach Smart was saying,” Tebow said. “It’s not only great coaching, but it shows great leadership by him. He’s taking it to the next level, knowing what Coach Smart is going to say. It’s regurgitating, but it’s authentic, too. That’s special. What a fascinating player.”

Nolan Smith could have left Georgia for the NFL after winning the national championship in 2021. However, the 6-foot-3, 235-pound linebacker opted to return for another season.

Cameras captured Smith interacting with Tebow, as well as former Georgia associate head coach and current Razorbacks head coach Sam Pittman.
