On3 top-75 CB Chris Peal commits to Georgia
Chris Peal took official visits to Georgia, Michigan and NC State. He gave South Carolina and a few others strong looks, but in the end, it came down to the Bulldogs and the Wolverines.
The No. 75 prospect in the On300 was coveted by Georgia. Kirby Smart, Will Muschamp and Fran Brown were all heavily involved with Peal’s recruitment. He visited Athens a handful of times, he got familiar with the staff, and he decided to play in the SEC.
“I have a great relationship with the Georgia coaches,” Peal told On3. “Me and coach Brown talk almost every night, so we have a great relationship. I like coach Muschamp a lot too. Coach Smart has been on me hard also. Georgia has really recruited me hard and shown me I am important to them.”
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound four-star cornerback out of Charlotte Providence Day School is excited to play for not one, not two, but three coaches with the ability to coach him up at his position.
Learning from Brown, Muschamp and Smart is a unique opportunity since all three lined up in the secondary during their college football careers. Muschamp and Smart both played at Georgia.
“I knew coach Brown when he was at Rutgers, then he went to Georgia,” Peal said. “Georgia quickly offered me and it started with Georgia right after that. I already knew coach Brown, then I got to know coach Muschamp and coach Smart. They made me very comfortable. I could talk with them at any time.”
He is really comfortable with the coaching staff and his mother trusts them as well, which helped the school stand out.

How Georgia wins factored into Peal’s decision too. As did Georgia’s ability to develop players and prepare them for the NFL.
“Georgia can make me better,” Peal said. “Coach Brown has shown me his plan for me. I have talked with him and coach Muschamp about my role, how they would use me and I know the Georgia coaches will make me better. Georgia is an NFL factory. It is a school that develops players. They train their players well, coach them up and put them in the NFL.”
Peal is the fourth On3 top-100 defensive back in the Bulldogs recruiting class along with cornerbacks A.J. Harris and Daniel Harris and safety Joenel Aguero.
“It is a balance of hard work and a family feel at Georgia,” Peal said. “They work hard and they play for each other at Georgia. The competitiveness at Georgia is big for me at Georgia. They push each other, they make each other better and I know I can’t slack off there.
“The players have great relationships with each other and they work hard together all of the time. It is like a brotherhood at Georgia. It is a place I know will be one family that push each other to be their best.”
