On300 Top 75 CB Chris Peal commits to Georgia
Four-star cornerback Chris Peal of Charlotte (NC) Providence Day School announced his commitment to Georgia Sunday afternoon.
The 6-foot-1, 190 pounder chose the Bulldogs over Michigan, NC State, and South Carolina.
Peal on why he chose Georgia
“Mainly the atmosphere when hanging with the players and talking to the coaches,” Peal said. “I’ve been talking to coach Fran (DB coach) since he was at Rutgers, and we built a pretty good relationship. Then meeting coach Muschamp and coach Smart and having my family like them was great. I also like their coaching style and their ability to develop elite players.”
Georgia’s plan for Chris Peal
“They talk about how I’m fast and it’s hard to find big corners who are also fast,” Peal said. “The coaches say they really see the potential and that I can be very versatile.”
What playing for Georgia means to Peal
“My dream is to go to the NFL one day and to see how they have developed so many players consistently shows me that going here can maximize my potential,” Peal said. “Also, I’ll be playing against the best competition and since I’m competitive it’ll only make me better.”

Chris Peal Scouting Summary
“Athletic cornerback with smooth coverage skills, On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote. “Measured at 6-feet tall, 175 pounds as a junior. One of the faster top cornerback prospects, running 10.78 seconds in the 100 meters as a junior. Also tested very well in the combine setting prior to his junior season. Technically clean in coverage. Stays in phase with receivers and shows the ability to locate and make plays on the ball. A smooth mover both in games and the camp setting. Also flashes his athleticism and playmaking ability as a running back. Finished with 56 tackles and 2 interceptions along with 865 yards and 11 touchdowns from scrimmage. Lacks ideal length with a neutral wing-span and can continue getting strong to aid in his tackling.”
Peal ranks as the No. 172 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts all four major recruiting services. He also tabs in as the No. 21 cornerback and the No. 3 player in the state of North Carolina.
