Oregon defensive back transfer Collin Gill has committed to Georgia out of the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on his Twitter account on Thursday afternoon.

Gill was a freshman for the Ducks in 2023 and did not appear in any games, utilizing a redshirt season.

But he’s a talented prospect who had good size as a recruit and was well thought-of out of the Washington D.C. area.

Prior to enrolling at Oregon, Collin Gill was ranked as a three-star prospect and the No. 1,060 overall recruit in the nation in the 2023 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

He also checked in as the No. 102 cornerback in his class and the No. 6 overall player from D.C., hailing from Washington D.C. (DC) St. John’s.

Kirby Smart sees room for growth in Carson Beck

Georgia quarterback Carson Beck enters the 2024 college football season regarded as not just one of the best quarterbacks, but one of the best overall players in the nation. Currently in a tie for the best odds to take home the Heisman Trophy and ranked No. 4 in On3’s Clark Brooks‘ Top 100 Players in College Football for the 2024 season.

There’s no doubt that Beck impressed in his first season as a starter under center for the Bulldogs in 2023. But how much room for improvement is there for him?

His head coach Kirby Smart was asked just that at SEC Spring Meetings in Destin, Florida, revealing an area that he believes his signal caller can improve upon ahead of the upcoming season.

“His leadership of the wideouts and the offense,” Smart said. “I mean he was in complete command of it, but there was times that I think he knows that he can say, ‘You know what? I can step up and be a bigger voice and a bigger leader.’”

On3’s Kaiden Smith also contributed to this report.
