Georgia’s schedule is weaker than usual this year. Nonetheless, Paul Finebaum believes it isn’t a cakewalk to the College Football Playoff, either. During an appearance on “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning,” Finebaum evaluated UGA’s remaining opponents.

Missouri has played exceptionally well,” Finebaum said. “The fact that Missouri could go on the road, I’ll defer to you on that one, Cole. But it doesn’t matter, how they got there. They still got there. Ole Miss is a challenge, and I agree with you on Tennessee.

“I think that’s a pretty hefty group, a bunch of games. I still like Georgia to get to Atlanta unscathed. I still have faith in that team. But you know, again, how much can you can you read into what we saw last weekend?”

Georgia will face off against No. 20 Missouri, No. 13 Ole Miss and No. 17 Tennessee in a row. While the lineup is imposing, Georgia showed its superiority over fellow Top 25 opponents just two weeks ago.

On Oct. 7, Georgia dominated No. 20 Kentucky in a 51-13 blowout. Georgia finished the game with a whopping 31 first downs while amassing 608 total yards of offense. For reference, Kentucky recorded just 183 total yards.

UGA tight end Brock Bowers was pivotal in the matchup, tallying seven receptions for 132 yards and a touchdown. Bowers didn’t find the same success this past weekend. In the second quarter of UGA’s 37-20 triumph over Vanderbilt, Bowers suffered a lower-leg injury.

Georgia’s future depends on Brock Bowers

He did not return to the game. With conflicting reports surrounding the injury, Finebaum claims his prediction for the Bulldogs’ future rests on Bowers’ diagnosis.

“I’d like to know before I answer that question — which I will anyways — what Brock Bowers’ health is. I think that’s a key component, a healthy Brock Bower. Fortunately, he does have two weeks and I think that should be enough.”

Georgia will have a bye week before taking on Florida on Oct. 28 to kick off the back-half of the season. On Saturday, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart confirmed Bowers did not break any bones, but the Heisman candidate had not yet received an MRI.

“It’s an ankle sprain,” Smart said. “Don’t know how severe. X-Rayed it, and X-Rays were negative. It looked like it was lower, but we don’t know. Until we get an MRI, we won’t know, him or Truss. Same thing. Both of them are ankle sprains.”
