Once again, the Georgia Bulldogs had a phenomenal night at the NFL Draft, and Paul Finebaum believes it’s the new regular.

Kirby Smart watched on proud as a myriad of former Georgia stars saw their dreams come true, from Jalen Carter to Nolan Smith, Kelee Ringo and a bevy of players in-between. While Alabama started the 2023 NFL Draft off with a bang, seeing Bryce Young and Will Anderson go within the first three picks, Paul Finebaum doesn’t believe even the Crimson Tide are on Georgia’s level.

Speaking on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning, Finebaum elaborated on why he doesn’t see the Bulldogs’ dominance at the NFL Draft changing anytime soon.

“No, and I think that’s a really interesting story. Certainly Alabama won the night Thursday, with three of the top twelve, but I saw a stat yesterday, something like measuring the first seven years of [Nick] Saban, Dabo [Swinney], Kirby and a few other people, and Kirby is dramatically ahead,” explained Finebaum. “Even as everyone know, Saban’s first seven years, it took — the first class was not of course that great, but once he got established it went crazy. He’s recruiting at a level I don’t know if we’ve ever seen before in college football.

“Why is it important? Because I think as good as Alabama’s roster is, and it may very well be the second best roster in all of college football, it’s all about keeping up with Georgia now, versus the other way around. He’s not only recruiting the talent, he’s developing and keeping talent. Now of course some players are leaving, everybody’s losing players, but these are staggering numbers.”

Of course, last season Georgia’s defense set records with the amount of players selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and this season’s iteration only hammered home the point some more that the Bulldogs aren’t going anywhere. They’re a machine, where you can succeed at the highest level in college, win a national title and then move on to the next level as one of the most exciting prospects available.

While coaches like Saban and Swinney are still sending an impressive amount of players to the next level, the sheer amount of athletes realizing their dreams, both in college and in the NFL, through Smart’s system is uniquely impressive. Additionally, it’s not like he’s been around forever either, he’s still in his first act as a head coach.

The NFL Draft has become another day to celebrate as a Georgia fan, and it’s tough to disagree with Paul Finebaum and company believing that it’s the Bulldogs’ stomping ground for the foreseeable future.
