Georgia is the new king of college football, and SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum revealed how he believes they’ve been able to eclipse Nick Saban and Alabama over the past couple of years.

“Overall, I think they’re significantly ahead,” Finebaum said on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning. “What you’re seeing in there, is just an accumulation of enormous talent upon talent. If a player gets hurt, if a player leaves, it is not as challenging to overcome.”

The oodles of talent on Georgia’s roster coming into the program is typically equal to, or greater than the outgoing roster every season. Amassing top recruit after top recruit, plus having the ability to dip their toes into the transfer portal, and it’s no wonder Kirby Smart and the Dawgs are here to stay.

Two-straight national championships in as many seasons have seen Georgia erase a four-decade title drought. Finebaum doesn’t think the second title was the end of the Bulldogs’ dominance, either.

“[Georgia is] really where Alabama has been for most of, if not all of Nick Saban’s tenure. Various schools come and go – LSU has come and gone, others have been there like comets, in and out – but no one other than Alabama has been there every single year and now Georgia is simply in that spot. … to have a program like Georgia or Alabama, it;’s extremely difficult. You need continuity and that’s been an issue in the SEC.”

Just like last season, Georgia’s roster turnover will be well documented. The most important question for Georgia remains at the quarterback position after Stetson Bennett‘s eligibility ran out. Will they go Carson Beck – a talented four-star junior? Or will Smart try his hand in the portal?

Even without the most talented player under center, their incredibly talented supporting cast should more than compensate. We’ll just have to wait and see.
