Stetson Bennett shares what Florida rivalry means to him
Although Stetson Bennett grew up in the state of Georgia, there were more Gator fans around him than Bulldogs. Blackshear, GA, was just 133 miles from Gainesville, while Athens was 218 miles away. Bennett is another example of why the Georgia–Florida rivalry is a special one.
When speaking on the rivalry when growing up, Bennett said he was around more Florida fans, being so close to the border. He said that caused some smack talk in his area — even between people in the same household.

“For me, it will a little bit closer to home down there,” Bennett said. “I don’t know exactly how far we were from Gainseville, I only went once. But it seemed like there were more Florida fans. So, it was more rivalries between households, talk smack. I would say I grew up with a little bit more of a proximity to the game.”
Jacksonville would have been an even closer drive for Bennett from home, being just 80 miles. To say the least, this has been a rivalry that has lived in the Georgia national championship-winning quarterback’s life for some time now. Playing in his third game vs. Florida, Bennett will be looking for a second consecutive win come Saturday afternoon.

Stetson Bennett gives opinion on moving Georgia-Florida site
Stetson Bennett has been a member of the Georgia Bulldogs vs. Florida Gators rivalry for quite some time. But because of the game being played in the neutral site of Jacksonville, FL, he has never experienced what it is like to play down in The Swamp. But that hasn’t stopped him from envisioning what it would be like to take down the Gators on their home field.
When asked about the possibility of changing the site for their rivalry matchup, Bennett admitted that going to a home-and-home format ‘would be cool.’
“You know the grass is always greener,” said Bennett. “But I don’t know; it would be cool playing in Gainesville. It’s hard to say. I don’t really know exactly what that would mean for Jacksonville, Athens, Gainesville, the city, and all that stuff. But it would be cool to play down there. But as far as permanently, I don’t know.
