Family of Roderick Robinson II unable to attend SEC Championship due to Alaska Airlines travel delays
Georgia running back Roderick Robinson II’s family experienced travel delays and it appears they will miss Saturday’s SEC Championship, his father said. They endured a lengthy delay with Alaska Airlines and can’t get on another flight to Atlanta.
Roderick Robinson Sr. said the family sat through a nearly three-hour delay before boarding. But when they got down the runway, the pilot said he timed out and had to go off duty.
Robinson added Alaska Airlines wouldn’t put him and his family on another airline. He called it a “complete mess,” and it likely means he’ll have to miss the SEC title game.
“My family and I are about to miss my son play in the SEC Championship game all because of @AlaskaAir piss poor planning!” Robinson wrote on X. “After a 3 hourly delay due to fog and no pilots on ground, they board us and get all the way down the runway to takeoff and the pilot comes on the speaker to tell us he has timed out for the duty day. I am so pissed!!!! They had to know he was close to timing out! Why waste our time boarding!

“Now there is no flights to get us to Atlanta in time and they won’t even book us on another airline. Now I have to try and get reimbursed for Hotel and rental car. Never again will I book anything with Alaska! This was a complete mess!”
Roderick Robinson II made his return to the UGA lineup against Georgia Tech in last week’s 8OT thriller after missing time with an injury. That marked his first appearance of the season after suffering a toe injury during camp that later required surgery. In that game, he hauled in two receptions for 34 yards while adding three rushing yards on four attempts on the ground.
Georgia and Texas are gearing up for Saturday’s SEC Championship at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET on ABC.
