Georgia offensive lineman Sedrick Van Pran was at SEC media days, representing the Bulldogs as a returning star. There, he heaped praise upon another offensive lineman, Amarius Mims.

As Van Pran explained, Mims is an incredibly important player on Georgia’s offensive line, not just for his talent but for the energy and culture that he helps bring to the unit.

“So just being frank, I think he fits in as a goofball,” Sedrick Van Pran said. “He’s the guy that provides comic relief whenever things are getting serious and hot. You know, you may be a hundred degrees and running guys are ready to get after it, and he says something funny to kind of calm guys down. He’s that kind of guy.”

Amarius Mims was an immensely talented recruit in the 2021 cycle. According to the On3 Industry Rankings, he was a five-star recruit, the third-best tackle in his class and the 10th-best player overall. Today, he is seen as one of the top 100 players of the 2023 season.

“But also, he’s like, immensely talented. That guy is one of God’s gifts, just physically. Super, super excited to see what he can do this year.”

Sedrick Van Pran is incredibly important to Georgia’s offensive effort in his own right. He’s considered an excellent NFL prospect, right now, with some mock drafts having him going as early as the late first round, joining the long line of fellow Bulldogs with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kirby Smart praised Sedrick Van Pran

Some people expected Sedrick Van Pran to enter the 2023 NFL. He didn’t, though, instead deciding to return to Georgia. Nobody was happier about that than head coach Kirby Smart, who raved about Van Pran this Spring.

“First of all, he came in as a quality person, human being, football player. Education was important to him. I mean, I can remember since the first time I saw him in his high school, he talked about how important art was to him and he wanted to be really good at it. He wanted to get in his major, so like he came in with a leadership mentality and he’s only grown in that,” Smart said.

“So I think we have made him a better person and a better man and he’s grown up a lot. But he came in with a lot of those qualities, and that’s a credit to his family and his background, the people that helped raise him in New Orleans. But I’ve not been around someone that is so comfortable being uncomfortable. Because he really is not afraid to demand excellence, to hold people accountable to other things that we want in our organization. He embodies that. And to have him come back is like a blessing in disguise in terms of leadership.”
