Sedrick Van Pran careful with words on Texas, Oklahoma after seeing others create headlines
LSU running back Josh Williams made some headlines at SEC Media Days, sending a warning out to Texas and Oklahoma. He said neither Red River school really understands what they are getting into by joining the SEC. Williams might be excited about expansion but made his feelings truly known.
Sedrick Van Pran was given a similar question but made sure to “be careful” with his answer. The Georgia center praised both Texas and Oklahoma instead, saying their addition will be good for the SEC. Van Pran is in favor of improving the competition level within the league.
“I want to be careful what I say because in my opinion, I think football is football,” Van Pran said. “Anybody, any given day, like it doesn’t matter conference, size, any of that. If it’s your day, it’s your day.
“So I don’t necessarily want to get into what’s necessarily waiting for them. But I will say, I do think that they will be very competitive in this league and I think that it will be good for the league because when you add two premiere programs like that that have such rich histories, I think it only elevates the status of the conference.”
Texas and Oklahoma may not arrive until the 2024 season but a ton of people have echoed Van Pran’s remarks. They believe both schools will elevate the level of play in the conference, being two of college football’s most historic programs.

For the most part though, people expect those answers. Williams was being a bit more honest with his emotions at the time. Even if Van Pran shared the opinion of Williams, he did not want to go there and decided to stay away from saying anything similar to his current conference mate.
There is a chance Van Pran never gets to play against Texas or Oklahoma. He was a surprise return to Georgia this season after winning two national championships. While Kirby Smart is welcoming his center back with open arms, the NFL is going to come calling sooner rather than later.
Even so, if Van Pran does return for the 2024 season, he will get to experience Austin. Georgia will go on the road to face Texas in what could be one of the SEC’s biggest games of the year. If we see Van Pran at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, we know he will be respecting the Longhorns.
