Fresh off their impressive 2024 season with aspirations of achieving more in 2025, the Georgia Bulldogs baseball program has just received some positive news. The Bulldogs took to social media to announce that infielder Slate Alford will return to the program and suit up for Bulldogs baseball and head coach Wes Johnson next season.

Last season, Alford was a considerable contributor to Georgia’s success on the field, starting in all 60 games at various positions throughout the infield and recording eight starts at DH. The Bulldogs finished the year with a 43-17 record and ranked No. 10 in the nation. That would earn Albert and his Georgia teammates the opportunity to host a regional and super regional in this year’s championship tournament. Georgia would ultimately be upset by the NC State Wolf Pack and the Athens super regional, narrowly missing out on an opportunity to head to Omaha for the men’s College World Series.

Alford was one of the Bulldogs’ better hitters last season. He made 300 plate appearances, earning credit for 267 at-bats, finishing the year with a .300 batting average and an OPS of .909. The junior infielder ended 2024 with eighty hits, 55 runs, and one stolen base to go along with 69 RBIs and seventeen home runs. Alford also struck out 63 times during the season but was walked 26.
