Georgia honors legendary quarterback Stetson Bennett during Ole Miss game
No player will have as special of a story as Stetson Bennett in Georgia football history. From a walk-on to transferring out of the program, to eventually taking over the starting role — Bennett was the guy to elevate the Bulldogs to the next level. Winning two national championships is something the fans in Athens will remember forever.
Carson Beck has filled in nicely for Bennett on the field since his departure. But there was still some time for Bennett to be honored at Sanford Stadium on Saturday during Georgia’s massive showdown against Ole Miss.
During a timeout, Bennett was handed his Burlsworth Award trophy, an award handed out to college football’s most outstanding player who began their career as a walk-on. He won it two consecutive seasons, both of which ended in national championships.
Bennett was well received in Athens, with the home crowd ecstatic to see him back. They cheered him on for a few seconds while he was shown on the jumbotron

While Bennett was Georgia’s starting quarterback, people were constantly asking Kirby Smart if he was going to roll with someone else. For some time, JT Daniels was thought to be the guy who had the best chance to elevate the Bulldogs to a championship-worthy program.
Smart stuck to his guns the entire time and it more than paid off. Bennett continually came in clutch for Georgia and will now forever be a legend in the program. You would have to believe Saturday will not be the last standing ovation he receives from Sanford Stadium.

Stetson Bennett out for season with Los Angeles Rams
After spending quite some time in college football, Bennett decided to give it a shot in the NFL and was eventually drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the fourth round. A great accomplishment and he was heading to a franchise not too far removed from winning a Super Bowl.
Working with Sean McVay is never a bad thing either for a quarterback.
However, Bennett has not played thus far for the Rams and in a recent update from McVay, it sounds like Bennett will be out for the rest of the season.
“He’s doing well,” McVay told reporters. “I would say there’s really no updates in regard to him returning back with us.
“I’m not ready to say that he won’t be back with us at all this year, but it’s probably less likely than it is likely he would be.”
