Stetson Bennett IV and Aaron Murray both have claims to being the greatest quarterback to put on a uniform for Georgia. While Bennett led the Bulldogs to their first national championship since 1980, Murray is the record holder of many Georgia passing records.

In addition to being Georgia legends, the two quarterbacks have developed a friendship. Earlier this season, Murray stated that Georgia should stick with Bennett amid his struggles. After being vindicated by his performance, ESPN’s cameras captured Bennett celebrated with Murray on the field following the Bulldogs’ victory on Monday.

Moreover, Murray’s two-cents is Bennett will go down as the greatest quarterback in Georgia history because of his national championship victory. After hoisting the trophy, Bennett reacted to his friend’s belief.

“Well, all I know is in 2012, when we decided to go fastball, throw a fade and Chris Conley caught that ball on the 3-yard line, I cried my eyes out,” stated Bennett. “And then the national championship was basically ceremony after that. That was the national championship, the SEC was.

“I mean, Murray has 13,000 yards, 130-something touchdowns. You can’t replace that. What he’s done for this university – he’s a nice guy, great guy, a good friend of mine, and I appreciate that. But, no, I mean in my opinion well I’m not going to give who I think is the best.”

Evidently, Bennett and Murray are in a battle to see who can give the other the most credit. As for Georgia head coach Kirby Smart’s opinion, he knew Bennett’s decision-making was good.

“Good decision,” Smart told Bennett. “You’ll keep your friendship.”

Finally, Bennett revealed how humble he can be — putting Murray ahead of him in Bulldogs lore.

“I wouldn’t put myself at the top of the list,” Bennett quipped. “I would put Murray in front of me. That’s what I would say.”

Murray: ‘Once he won this, in my mind he’s the greatest to ever do it for the Georgia Bulldogs.’

Furthermore, Murray continued to congratulate Bennett after Georgia defeated Alabama.

“Once he won this, in my mind he’s the greatest to ever do it for the Georgia Bulldogs,” Murray told SiriusXM following the victory.
