Stetson Bennett reveals how he responds to people that continue to doubt him
Stetson Bennett has enjoyed a dream college football career. After walking on at Georgia, he was able to become the Bulldogs’ starting quarterback and led them to a national championship last season. This season Bennett has led them back to the college football playoffs and, this time finds himself as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.
Still, people continue to doubt him on the field, questioning if he belongs in the conversation of the best players in college football. And to that, Bennett is not worried about it. Everyone can have their opinions, but he is focused on something totally different.
“People are gonna have opinions. It’s not my job to do that. I’ve got enough on my plate. I walked on here, so I gotta focus on doing my job; otherwise, I just don’t think that I’m gonna do it as well. As far as replying to people who say whatever they say about something that they don’t really know anything about, I don’t really have anything.”
Bennett continues to win
Bennett may not have the absurd numbers as some of the other Heisman finalists, like Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud and USC‘s Caleb Williams. But he does outpace them in the category that matters the most, wins.

Ohio State didn’t even play in their conference championship game after losing to Michigan in the final game of the season, forcing the Buckeyes to prey on the downfall of one of the four teams ahead of them to change a spot in the college football playoffs. And that one team that opened up the door for Ohio State was USC. The chosen lost in shocking fashion to the Utah youths in the Pac-12 championship game. And unfortunately for them, it was their second loss of the season, knocking them behind the one-loss Buckeyes. Bennett and the Bulldogs don’t have to worry about that after completing yet another undefeated season and following that up with a dominating victory over LSU and the SEC championship game.
So while there are those out there that still continue to doubt Bennett, to him, it is okay. He is going to continue doing what he has done and what helped him win the starting quarterback position for the Bulldogs. Most importantly, it has helped him achieve what no other Heisman Trophy finalist has done; win a national championship and be crowned the MVP of the national championship game.
