Georgia has long been considered the leader for Lakeland (Fla.) four-star wide receiver Tyler Williams.

However, over the past month, in-state Miami has made a major push for the talented pass-catcher, getting him on campus twice for games. That included this past weekend when the Hurricanes hosted Middle Tennessee State. But even after all of that, On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons says he likes where the Bulldogs are at a little less than 24 hours from Williams’ decision tomorrow.

“Miami and Georgia are the two schools to watch with roughly 24 hours or so away,” Simmons said during the On3 Inside Scoop recruiting show. “And I still like Georgia. I mean, Miami has done I think all they could do to make themselves a competitor to Georgia. But based on the intel I’ve picked up even while he was at Miami and after he’s come back late Sunday night, I still hear Georgia is in the best spot to land Tyler Williams.”

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) currently favors the Bulldogs in a major way. It gives Kirby Smart and Co. a 93.8 percent chance of securing Williams’ commitment.

Tyler Williams Recruiting Profile

The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder is the No. 124 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 20 wide receiver and the No. 27 senior in Florida.

On3 is higher on Williams than other recruiting services though, per the Industry Comparison. In the most recent On300 rankings, he was tabbed as the country’s No. 53 prospect, No. 7 wideout and No. 12 player in the Sunshine State.

Charles Power, On3’s director of scouting and rankings, writes this about him as a recruit:

“Former basketball-first athlete who blossomed as a wide receiver after transferring to powerhouse Lakeland High as a junior. Has a natural, well-rounded skill set at receiver. A big, fluid mover at around 6-foot-3, 200 pounds. Has plus length for the position with 33.5-inch arms. Draws on his basketball background to win at the catch point. High-points and attacks the ball in contested situations. Shows good lateral agility and spatial awareness as a runner after the catch. Continues to be a top basketball player, averaging over 15 points per game as a junior. Will need to continue progressing in the technical aspects of his game given his lack of football focus to this point.”
