Tim Tebow: Carson Beck's 'will-set' changed the game, led Georgia to win over Tennessee
Tim Tebow believes Carson Beck’s heart — or his will-set, as he called it — led Georgia to their huge win over Tennessee last weekend, and is helping the Bulldogs turn a corner.
Joining Saturday’s edition of SportsCenter, Tebow coined a new phrase and heaped some praise on the Georgia quarterback. He was evidently very impressed with Beck’s 347-yard performance against the Volunteers, and he believes the quarterback is back on track for success in 2024.
“Look at the way he played last week against Tennessee in a must-win situation. I love that. It wasn’t just about his skill set. He actually changed the game with his will-set, with his heart,” Tebow stated. “The game changed on this play. It’s a second and long, and he steps up. Listen, nobody wants to give him credit for his athletic ability, what he’s done, but this team has the most drops in the country. Look at the way he’s fighting, and now lowering his shoulder in a crucial situation. They regained their momentum. They regained the belief and the motivation, I believe, on that play. And now, two plays later, they have a good motion. I like this setup here. They get one-on-one with their linebacker against a tight end, Oscar Delp. And then I love the way that Carson Beck was throwing with conviction. He was throwing with accuracy. He was letting it rip. Almost 350 yards, three TDs. I believe it was his best game of the season.
“I love the poise throughout the entire game. He looks to the boundary, it’s not there. Flat route, it’s not there. He’s stepping up, but the whole defender is right in front of your dig route. Guys in front of your face. Steps up with poise, on the move. Moves the whole defender back to the boundary and throws his receiver open. I love it. Listen, after drop after drop after drop in the first half, Carson didn’t flinch. I believe, yes, he played great with an elite skill set, but he played even better with his will-set of saying, ‘Listen, I’m all in, and I’m going to put the team on my back.’”

After some conjecture about their College Football Playoff standing last weekend, Georgia is firmly in the dance at the moment due to Beck’s play against Tennessee. He won’t have to be perfect in Week 13, as the Bulldogs will face Massachusetts this weekend, but they’ll be back on the horse to finish out the season against Georgia Tech in Week 14.
With those two on the schedule, Georgia should be in the College Football Playoff, for all intents and purposes. If Carson Beck can keep up his level of play from Week 12, they’ll be a tough out, and Tim Tebow knows that.
